We've been picked as one of the exhibitors for this year Foto8 Summer Show 2010 - it runs from 26 July to 4 September!

The Finnish Grilli

There is one thing that all Finnish towns and cities have in common – the grilli, a small fast food kiosk open most hours after dark. The grilli is the place where the young meet, down and outs lurk and dealers hang about.

After last orders on any given Friday and Saturday night people grab themselves a slightly suspicious meat pie with the taste camouflaged by large helpings of strong mustard and other relishes. Sometimes brawls break out between punters at these hives of activity, but generally the Grilli is not a place of danger, just a pit stop to get you home – the main hustlers here are the Grilli owners who most Finns proudly fall pray of – Long live the Finnish Grilli!

Max has started a new project which not only keeps him photographing during the World Cup but also gives him a good 'reason' to watch as much football as he wants...He is photographing a football fan from all the participating nations and posting one on his Blog each day of the games. Attached here is a photo we took on one of these photo/project trips of a man called Nico who was not going to risk not being able to get into a busy pub to see the game and brought his own portable TV - don't you just love German efficiency!!

Village Fetes in South London

This seems to have been the weekend of village Fetes in South London we went to two - one on Albert Square where saw snails being raced...and the other was at Clever Square where we got to see (to Max's horror)a Punch and Judy show...en route home we also saw this abandoned ice cream...

A weekend in Finland

We were lucky enough to be working on a Puukko (traditional Finnish knife) project in Finland last weekend...it involved us spending most of the time in a cellar or by a mosquito ridden log pile, but this aside it is a great project to be working on ... and we'll share some photos with you in once processed!

Max spent a few days earlier this year photographing huge hand drawings by these Three Classicist. The catalogue is published by Bardwell Press.

First Day in Chengdu

Happy New Year!

Max has started the New Year by eating local specialities in Chengdu, China.
He sent me (Liz) these photos from his welcoming party which was at an amazing looking restaurant.. he had so much food, dan dan noodles, (again) abalone, scallops and some amazing beef, and loads of other nice food, including pork and even foie gras....

Day 2 & 3 in Paris

We were a bit optimistic to think that we would write everyday from Paris, we just got engulfed by the joys of Parisian life with her food, drink and of course photography!!


At the Paris Photo Opening there was a brilliant intervention which involved a pile of old (family) photographs for visitors to pick up...

...a lot of brilliant work: above Amy Stein...


...And of course there was time to find some great patisserie's to eat cake...

Day 1 in Paris

Last night we popped to see the opening of Herbert Ponting's photos of Captain Scott's Antarctic Expedition @ the Tokyo Arts Club. These historic prints were beautifully reproduced as platinum prints.






After getting in touch with history we went to La Coupole to finish off the evening with a huge meal.

cabinet of curiosities

We popped by Ben Pentreath's shop on Wednesday night for the opening of their current shop theme which is cabinet of curiosities - and there was a lot of great curio to be had!

These guys really make you smile! They're French Horn Rebellion and they're from Brooklyn, but we were lucky enough to go to their gig in London yesterday and we'll be photographing them next week.

We joined Bardwell Press to the launch of Stein Ringen's book: The Economic Consequences of Mr. Brown we did some photography, but also had a chance to listen to a very interesting debate witch included Polly Toynbee from the Guardian. We think the book looks great!
